About PipeRenew

A small site about a large job, resting on a court record rather than on the service life tables everybody else publishes.

The summary

No pipe on this site is given a service life, and that is deliberate: the figure that would sell a repipe fastest is also the one nobody can stand behind. NXTA Flow operates PipeRenew, which does no work, and its polybutylene material rests on the court record in Cox v. Shell Oil.

PipeRenew is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands, and replacing a water distribution system is a permitted alteration nearly everywhere — ask to see the permit. We carry out no work, we sell no materials, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call. Nothing here is legal advice about any claim.

What PipeRenew covers

PipeRenew is a referral service operated by NXTA Flow. We connect homeowners with independent contractors for repiping and water supply pipe replacement.

It was planned with state pages and has none. The coverage page sets out the figure they were going to rest on and why that inference does not hold.

The record behind it

One court record carries the only dated claim on this site, and it is named and linked on every page that uses it:

the court-approved class notice, Cox v. Shell Oil Company, administered by the Consumer Plumbing Recovery Center — the installation window of 1 January 1978 to 31 July 1995, the judgment of 17 November 1995, and the Consumer Plumbing Recovery Center that administered the settlement.
Public Justice, on Cox v. Shell Oil Company — the scale of the program and the fifteen years of court-supervised administration.

Everything else here is material behavior, access and method. None of it asserts a measurement, so none of it carries a citation it could not support.

What it refuses to print

A service life for any material. A price. A verdict on any particular house. And anything at all about whether a reader has a legal claim. The first three are explained on their own page; the fourth is a matter for a lawyer and is stated as such everywhere it comes up.
